Israel Prince Messiah

aka “Beethoven Is”

I am Israel Smith, a 13-year-old trombone player, and for the past two years, I’ve been really committed to my music, building on five years of trombone experience. I’ve been practicing hard, improving every day, and performing in ensembles and orchestras throughout Atlanta.

I’ve trained with the Atlanta Music Project for over six years, completing the Preparatory Academy and advancing through the Junior Youth Orchestra levels. I’ve served as First Chair Trombone across multiple ensembles and performed regularly in symphonic and orchestral concerts, including the National Black Child Development Institute Conference and various public showcases. I’ve also participated in the AMP Summer Series, completing three consecutive summers of full-day intensive orchestral training.

As a homeschooled student with Nia Natal Academy, I have the unique privilege to perform with the Majestic Marching Cardinals (MMC), one of Georgia’s Top Five High School Marching Bands, recognized as ESPN Marching Band of the Year (2024). I’ve performed at major venues like the Mercedes-Benz Stadium with the Atlanta Falcons and at professional events across the city.

This year, I have an amazing opportunity to perform with the Majestic Marching Cardinals at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. It is my dream to evolve as a traveling musician and this would be the beginning of that journey. To make this dream happen, I need to raise $3,000 for travel, lodging, and performance costs. Every investment helps me represent young musicians like myself, my band, and my community while sharing music on one of the world’s biggest stages.
